Be ready! The 'Color Festival' is BACK!
Calling all colour-happy ravers! Whether you are a student or not, the most vibrant and colourful festival in Wales is back for its second year - hurrah! On Saturday 6th June, Little Bigfoot will provide us with a splash of colour once again to get summer in full swing, by bringing back to Splott 'the happiest festival in the world'.
If you managed to hide under a rock… or if you weren’t a student in our wonderful city last year, you won’t have a clue what we are talking about! The Color Festival hit Cardiff’s Splott Warehouse with a bang (more a cloud of paint to be honest) last year with some of the hottest DJs around, and it was a whole host of fun. Last year there was a lot speculation among the ravers of Cardiff as to who would be headlining the explosion of colour that took over Cardiff for one day, and the organiser did not disappoint! We saw Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac take to the decks along with SecondCity, Redlight and The Golden Boy which made for an awesome line up; so what about this year?
We know what you are thinking, how on earth will they top last year? With a later license, even better acts and of course more paint! It will be tough given that last year was such a success, but they are most definitely off to a great start, especially as the first of the headlining acts has been announced: Oliver Heldens. the Dutch DJ, who caught the attention of DJ Tiesto, which kicked off his career, has had hits with “Gecko (Overdrive)” featuring Becky Hill and “Koala”. Little Bigfoot have promised more international artists alongside Cardiff's finest, planning to make it twice as big as last year. They also decided to extend the opening hours, allowing ravers to party longer, in a venue that can welcome more people.
Seeing how successful the Color Festival was last year, and seeing it has been announced to be bigger and better this year, it would be a shame to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity (OK maybe that's a bit over the top, but the festival definitely promises to be worth your time!). Expectations are high so we suggest to get your tickets early to avoid any disappointment, because they will be selling like hot buns! Once you have your ticket, prepare yourself for the colourful festivities that will give Splott a temporary new look. The dress code is white, so the colours show better, so avoid splashing out on an expensive outfit, and instead wear something that you don’t mind getting dirty. If you're lucky, your simple white clothes may even become a one-of-a-kind colourful outfit to wear at other parties (if they don't wash out). This event will make the perfect end-of-year party for you and your housemates, so get excited and spread the word, after all, the more, the merrier! Finally, be ready to get your rave on! Keep yourself updated on the line up and familiarise yourselves with the DJs as they get announced, to get into the festive spirit in advance.
If you attend The Color Festival this year we’d love to hear all about it! So feel free to let us know what you think, and share your experiences and photos with us on Twitter, Facebook or Google+! And if you're from outside Cardiff, fall in love with the city at the Festival and decide to come and live her next year, we'll be happy to help!
